Guess the hidden 5-letter word in 10 tries (the daily challenge deals a 6-letter word) — but the alphabet is mined. 3 random letters that are NOT in the word are live mines.
- A Direct hit — right letter, right position.
- C▲ Near miss — the spot's letter is exactly ONE alphabet step away, and the arrow names it: C▲ means the spot is D, C▼ means B.
- Q▼ Cold, but never useless — the arrow shows which way the spot's true letter lies in the alphabet: ▲ later, ▼ earlier. Each guess narrows every spot like a binary search.
- M MINE! — the row detonates, you lose 1 life, and all safe intel in that row is destroyed.
All intel is per-spot: arrows squeeze each spot from both ends, and a near miss pins it exactly. Hover any revealed tile to see the slot's known range. Click a tile in a future row to jot pencil notes while you think — they're scratch marks, invisible to the game. Deduce a mine? Right-click (or long-press on touch screens) it on the Defuse Board to flag it and lock it out of your keyboard.
Run out of lives — or rows — and the word is lost.
